Waste reduction vs OEE inprovement

Postby Ash1 » Wed Oct 01, 2014 8:42 pm

With a strong focus on OEE, waste reduction is taking a backseat as the organisation is prepared to sacrifice waste to get better OEE which to me sounds insane as i feel that the monetary value of waste is more than OEE. Any thoughts on this???

I think waste should automatically be reduced OR controlled if the focus is on OEE improvement.
Machine / Line efficiency, availability and correct quality of the product are the three ingredients which determine OEE.

If the focus is on good quality product delivery, then waste reduction should happen naturally and focus on waste should be there, if it isn't then something might be missing somewhere.

Am I missing something?
